HOFH Elite Care Center Spotlight:Legacy Healing Center

By: HOFH

Spanning three states and four locations, Legacy Healing Center is a substance use disorder treatment program focused on providing an individualized client-centered holistic approach to recovery. The home-like facilities are thoughtfully designed to help clients feel safe, relaxed, and positive. Recognizing the significance of the family dynamic as an integral part of recovery, Legacy Healing Center provides comprehensive family services for loved ones but also takes a personal approach in the way its team members work with their clients.

“We’re not a treatment center, we are a true behavioral health provider. At Legacy Healing, our quality care standard includes mindset, because that’s where the disease is centered,” says Marc R. Effron, Chief Operating Officer of Legacy Healing. “The mindset starts with our leadership. We like to say we are ‘ladies and gentlemen caring for ladies and gentlemen.’ This is the navigating thought that permeates throughout all our team members. Everyone is treated like a human the minute they walk through the door.”

“We really care about the patients we serve, and it starts at the top,” adds David Levin, Chief Clinical Officer. “You’ll be hard-pressed to find another behavioral health program of our size where the clients have daily access to the owners. Clients and alumni have my personal contact information and when they are struggling, they can call me. Any time of the day or night.”

Multidisciplinary Team Providing Multiple Levels of Care

Legacy Healing Center provides a multitude of clinical modalities and a variety of levels of care. Each client’s journey to recovery begins with an assessment followed by a personalized recovery plan, which is adapted over time in order to provide the most effective care at each stage of the recovery process.

Levels of care include:

● Partial Hospitalization Program

● Intensive Outpatient Program

● Outpatient Program

● First Responders Treatment

● Aftercare Therapy

● Family Program

● Executive Program

Incorporated into these levels of care and the client’s personalized treatment plan are healing techniques such as:

● Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

● Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

● Motivation Enhancement Therapy

● Solution Focused Therapy

● Family systems

● Psychodynamic Therapy

● Individual Therapy

● Process Therapy

● Holistic Therapy

● TCBT- Trauma Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

● Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR)

● Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT)

● Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

● Hypnotherapy

● Seeking Safety

“We have developed a proprietary process called Recovery Action Plan or RAP, which allows us to drill down to the clients-specific needs,” says Effron. “We aim to take this approach to the next level by providing modalities that are not commonly found in-house in other programs. For example, we offer Rapid Resolution Therapy, otherwise known as RRT and we also offer BrainPaint, which is a type of neurofeedback therapy that uses EEG biofeedback.”

In addition to these levels of care, Legacy Healing prioritizes providing resources for the whole family.

Support for the Whole Family

Just as important as the individual’s treatment plan is the one for the family. Legacy Healing Center’s programs make the family plan an intricate part of the process designed to help parents, spouses, and siblings resolve conflicts, rebuild trust, and improve communication under the guidance of a therapist. While a loved one is in treatment, family members and loved ones can begin their own journey to healing through these programs.

“I’m the proudest of our family dynamic and family programs. To just treat the individual is half the battle. We do an amazing job of pouring into the families,” says Michael DePasquale, President of Business Development. “It’s one thing to have success in the bubble of treatment, but we want to set them up for success once they leave our program. We aim to provide families with things like effective communication, healthy boundaries, and insight into co-dependency so that the work has already begun while their loved one is in treatment. This way, overall outcome with the loved one in recovery and the family is that much greater.”

“Family is a massive part of what we do because it is a family disease,” adds Effron.

Legacy Healing Center’s family programs span from individual sessions with therapists to group sessions to quarterly retreats. The healing center even offers weekly in-person and virtual sessions for family members that are also open to the public and alumni.

Recovery for Pro Athletes

In joining Hall of Fame Health (HOFH) as an Elite Care Center, Legacy Healing Center seeks to further its purpose of recovery, education, and awareness in the community at large, particularly with the young athlete demographic. In addition, the center is poised to continue to serve pro athletes in recovery by concentrating on highly charged personal issues such as identity while also uncovering the layers that need healing.

“It’s not just about their identity as an athlete, but as a human who is struggling,” says Levin. “We get them to take their masks off and really look at their humanness, vulnerabilities, and unresolved issues. What I try to do is not talk about their sports career as much as possible; I want to talk about what makes them just like me and their peers.”

“As a former athlete, baseball was my identity,” says DePasquale. “It was my life, my one true passion, and the one thing I was the best at. That was me, that was my story. I lost it all due to my addiction. Having gone through that further pushes that purpose for me today to wake up and help the people who are struggling like I did almost a decade ago now. To be able to relate and provide the path to a solution every day is incredible.”

“Legacy Healing Center’s compassionate energy is felt the moment you walk into their facility,” says Ryan Cain, President of the behavioral health division for HOFH. “It really is about people helping people in a way that incorporates impressive clinical modalities with individualized plans that are both flexible and effective. Healing is unquestionably at the center of all that they do.”

“Our treatment center is called Legacy Healing Center for a reason,” adds Effron. We are focused on emotional sobriety, not just physical sobriety. We aim to deliver quality care, genuine love, and measurable outcomes so people are set up to thrive and not just survive after their time with Legacy.”
